Journey of a Lifetime

Top Ten Fall Foliage Favorites

Ever since moving to Maryland from New York City in 2006, I have come to enjoy the change of season to the Fall. In NYC, there wasn’t much foliage to see unless you were in Central Park or Upstate. Now I see all the lovely shades of red and orange the leaves change to. Some places along Route 50 or the Baltimore Washington Parkway & out Northwest by Cumberland, can be breath taking! I’m planning on taking a nice scenic drive down the Shenandoah Valley, VA one day soon for the first time; this is another place I hear is a “must see”.

It’s amazing how the leaves know just when to change, then they fall off & start all over again in the Spring. Aaaww the joy of different Seasons!!

It is this new found appreciation for the change of seasons that this article on the Weather Channel’s website caught my attention: Top Ten Fall Foliage Travel Destination<e

They listed them as being:

10) Washington County, Maine
9) Ohio (yes, the entire state)
8) Lost Maples Natural Areas, Texas
7) Litchfield Hills, Connecticut
6) Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri
5) Great Smoky Mountains, North Carolina & Tennessee
4) Eastern Townships Quebec, Canada (not quite sure why this one is included since it is not in the U.S.
3) Columbia River Gorge, Oregon
2) Catskills, New York (like I said earlier: upstate NY 🙂

& the # 1 place is:
Aspen, Colorado

I would add some of these places onto my bucketlist. Hope you are able to enjoy at least one of these places this Fall, as you enjoy this year’s new Season of life.

U.S. OPEN 2012

My husband and are are spending the day in New York City at the 2012 U.S. Open. It’s our first time here and it’s very exciting! It’s a gorgeous day & we’ll get to see Roger Federer play. Unfortunately my favorite player Rafael Nadal is not playing in this years Open.

I’ll be posting more pictures as the day go by!

Agent Finds Cruise Weddings a Romantic – and Profitable – Niche

This is a great article (Trade Market Report) about the booming destination wedding/honeymoon market, especially those aboard a cruise and an agents passion for this niche.

I can relate to her ethusiasm for the excitement about the preparation for one of the most important days in a couples life….their wedding.

Did you know that “About 18% of weddings are destination weddings of the $18 billion business and that’s why the cruise lines are really trying to focus and grab a true piece of the market share.”
